Toyama Bay Cycling Route

The 富山湾岸サイクリングコース (Toyama Bay Coastal Cycling Route) offers stunning seaside riding along the northern coast of Honshu. Stretching approximately 100 kilometers from the western city of Himi to the eastern town of Nyūzen, the route follows the Toyama Bay shoreline and offers spectacular views of the sea and, on clear days, the towering Tateyama Mountain Range across the water. The path is mostly flat and well-marked, making it suitable for casual riders and families, but still satisfying for experienced cyclists looking for scenery and serenity. Along the way, you can enjoy fresh seafood, charming fishing villages, and local attractions like the Uozu Buried Forest Museum and hot spring resorts.

Amaharashi Coast (Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park)

Visiting Amaharashi while cycling the Toyama Bay Coastal Route is a breathtaking experience. As you coast along the shoreline, you’ll suddenly be greeted by sweeping views of the dramatic ancient rock formations—known as the Awarashi Rocks—framed by the azure bay waters. On a clear day, the majestic Tateyama Mountain Range rises in the background, creating a perfect postcard moment.
It’s a lovely spot to pause—park your bike and stroll along the pebble beach, feel the refreshing sea breeze, and maybe even picnic while watching traditional fishing boats drifting in the distance. The nearby Amaharashi Rest Area offers local snacks and restrooms, so you can recharge comfortably. Whether it’s sunrise or sunset, the golden light dancing on the rocks makes Amaharashi a must-stop highlight of your coastal ride.
