Sagi Island

Sagi Island is a small island located between Honshu and Ikujima Island on the Shimanami Kaido. A loop around the island is about 12km (or around 10.5km if one sticks to the wider road)

The route around Sagi Island is simple, just leave the port and keep the ocean to your left!

Cherry Blossoms

Sagi Island is famous for it’s cherry blossoms

Saki Island is famous for it’s “thousand cherry blossom hill” (塔の峰千本桜). Located just a few minutes from the ferry port, it’s very easy to get to.

The loop around the peak is largely covered with cherry blossoms tunnel.

To the peak itself, one has to walk up stairs where there is a small park. Peering between the petals, the ocean is visible 360 degrees!

Getting there and away

Sagi Island is connected by a ferry that goes between Mihara (Sunami Port, near Sunami Station) and Ikuna Island and all ferries make stop in both directions at Sagi Island (Timetable in japanese)
